Camera Operator

Full-Time \ Bristol \ Permanent
£28-32k dependent on experience

About us

We're a full-service video production company creating award-winning videos and TV commercials. Based in the centre of Bristol, we work in-house with a talented team of 13 multi-disciplined creatives.

Our clients span almost every sector and include The Royal Mint, University of Bristol, IDLES, Toshiba, the NHS and Battersea to name a few.

Our productions range in scale and scope, from a dozen crew shooting a 30s TV commercial on our RED HELIUM 8K, to interviewing with natural light and everything in between.

Role description

We’re looking for an experienced Camera Operator to join our team with a demonstrable passion for branded content and creative, commercial productions.

You’ll be working alongside our Production team and Directors from the get-go, acting as Camera Operator on small to mid-scale shoots, and taking up specialist roles such as DoP, focus puller and grip on larger productions.

You'll also be involved in the whole production process, helping to develop creative concepts from briefs and seeing them to fruition through both production and post-production. We all wear multiple hats, and utilise our team’s talents and personal passions throughout every project.

With the vast majority of our shoots being on-location, you'll be travelling across the region and further afield to tell our clients stories, working directly with clients, models and interviewees across a range of environments.

Required skills

You'll likely have 3+ year’s experience under your belt, probably working full-time for another video production company or freelancing for branded content productions.

We're also looking for a creative eye, with a showreel and approach to video that shows an appreciation of composition and an understanding of storytelling beyond just being a tech-junkie.

Whilst we'll help develop your creative, you'll likely have an approach to style, composition and visuals that can fit comfortably with our house style and existing clients, whilst having a spark that can add something different to new briefs and clients.

Aside from the creative, you'll be hard-working, outgoing, and personable in front of clients and contributors. Whilst our productions are constantly growing in scale and scope, with signed off storyboards and actors, you’ll also relish and be comfortable shooting in a more obs-doc style and interviewing contributors from all walks of life.

You must hold a valid and full UK driving licence, be confident in driving vans, live in Bristol (BS postcode) and will be required to have a DBS check.

Benefits

This is an exciting opportunity to learn and work in an incredibly varied and transparent environment. You will be vital from the outset, helping us to grow as part of the business alongside our founders and the rest of the team.

Our productions are incredibly varied and will offer immense variety in working on productions of all shapes and sizes; one day you may be working as a crew of 10 with 20 models for a music video, the next interviewing a single contributor with natural light as your primary source.

All our productions are net zero, reducing and offsetting our environmental impact and we hold Albert Sustainable Production Certification.

Like everyone else you’ll also receive:

  • Up to 33 days annual leave with long service
  • Additional holiday through days-in-lieu for overnight stays
  • Company-wide on-target turnover share
  • Fully paid time off over Christmas
  • Private healthcare with Bupa
  • Freshly ground coffee
  • Creative freedom and variety
  • Quarterly reports that detail our turnover and profit
  • Weekly fruit boxes
  • Cyclescheme and Techscheme
  • A two or three night overseas Christmas party
  • First round on us on a Friday
